Race car driver Jack Riley is betrayed by his team and plunged off a cliff. As he lies dying, he awakens Lightning, an alien Defender scout who has been dormant on Earth for eighty years. Jack and his new alien partner return to the racing circuit, but soon find themselves caught in a galactic plot as the Ironvore Legion, led by Frostfang, hunts for the Ultimate Core—a device of infinite energy.
